Clinical Pilates
“It’s the mind which shapes the body”
Joseph Pilates
Clinical Pilates is used for a variety of client specific needs.
As Joseph Pilates designed exercises, he also devised apparatuses to aid in the rehabilitation of injured, disabled and sick prisoners of post WWI. Hence the use of trapezius/cadilac table, barrel and reformer bed.
Used for treatment after injury or surgery, clinical pilates differs from studio pilates, as it takes into account an individual’s specific injuries and physical needs, instead of having multiple individuals complete the same program. Exercises are designed to assist recovery and prevent further injuries as well as gaining strength and movement after surgery, getting clients back to their every day tasks and or exercise programs.
Clinical Pilates is also used to support sport specific exercise regimes, from individual sports such as cycling to team sports such as football, therefore supporting the demands on the body for the clients specialised sport.

Rehab Clinical Pilates
“Change happens through movement and movement heals”.
Joseph Pilates
Specifcally designed by Joseph Pilates to rehabilitate the body, not to just improve movement but to gain function and strength after injury and/or surgery.
One on one sessions target the way a client moves, how to hold their core during movement, how to focus on body awareness, how to feel alignment and with consistent practice improve mobility, strength, and balance. Overall to find confidence in their body again. To be able to feel strong and conduct their daily activities pain free.
Homework is given so clients establish their own strengthening program, so sessions then can progress to enhance further conditioning.
Introducing Hot & Cold Therapy.
There is a trend about hot and cold therapy; It has been used for thousands of years in Nordic countries, so not a new therapy, just relatively new to our culture.
Using traditional sauna heat and then immersing into cold water to improve blood circulation, loosen stiff muscles and help eliminate inflammation.
Cold plunge/ ice baths have been shown to build mental clarity, focus and mood whilst building resilience and tolerance to stressors.
In the heat you reduce inflammation in the joints, great if you suffer from arthritis.
If the thought of cold water therapy doesn’t work for you, just enjoy the benefits of a sauna.
*terms and conditions apply; a medical certificate for any underling issues regarding heat and cold therapy.
